Death

Starved slender arms reach out and fingers cup the empty return,

food filters from Shylock’s grasping hand, his fingers fine –

fall foul and burn

naked form bare but for too few leaves.

Is so far stripped – it’s ridges seemed whipped

lean and dying a form clean and softly crying,

no-one can hear the mimicking cry, but only the quiet sky
