Incident metallic ’72

It heaves a metallic gasp and screams into disaster;

arms burnt with searing heat, eyes blinded by the glare.

Body glistening in the light, as though reflected in a flare.

Unconsciously it rolls, body grazed, vortex now concave

sight ripped out –  too late to save.

It’s skull fractured,jaws smashed,flesh seared, scarred and slashed.

Lying dead – now dragged away,

the last indignity to a common tow truck inelegantly lashed.
